The drop vessels are bullseye coloured glass, for which you design and fire to produce a ‘blank’. This is then fired again in the kiln much hotter over a mould with a hole so that a portion of the blank drops through the hole. I have to sit and watch this happen so that I can open the Kiln at 800 degrees c and crash cool it to stop it falling through and creating a puddle of molten glass on the kiln floor.

There’s a lot of cold working to cut the rim off and polish up, whilst also ensuring that they are self-supporting.
